I was a guest at Derix Glassstudios in Taunusstein, Germany in June, where I was invited to propose a design for an art glass sample. This is the design which I propose to fabricate using clear hand-blown glass, acid etching, sandblasting, airbrushing and silkscreen techniques.

Taking full advantage of my trip to Germany, I stayed with, and toured around the country with my friend Hedi Schwoebel.

Newton’s law says that an object in motion will stay in motion, so in July I went to Brazil. My brother, his friend Bob Postma and I joined our friend, the Brazilian agronomist, Paulo Bezerra, in a sustainability project at a National Preserve near the Amazon River.

We also joined our cousin Alice and her daughter Jennifer for a tour of the Pantanal, an extensive wetland region of Brazil.
